Ooops! Belay that. Just looked at the radar.

I-70 is covered in rain and thunderboomers.

Headed south & east cross country to OKC tonight.

Always wanted to see Ulysses, KS. anyway.

Here a thunderboomer, there a thunderboomer, everywhere a thunderboomer. Ive been through Ulysses but never stopped nor did I expect anything cool to be found there but maybe. I do go through Dodge City every time i go to the sand dunes and have always wanted to stop there and check out the museums n such but never wanted to try to drag the camper around through town trying to find a place to park, etc. Now that im just throwing a 4-wheeler in the back of the peeckup since im renting a camper so i dont have to drag a trailer anywhere from nine to fourty-eleventh hours one way, I'm hoping to do that this year on one of the trips.

Have a safe trip.

Well, most would say that I never actually grew up....

Born in Dallas
Early school was in Mabank while living in a town actually called Gun Barrel City
Went to High school in Trinidad off Hwy 31 between Corsicana and Athens.... not too far from Palestine and family campouts were often in Davey Crockett National forest.
Graduated from Trinidad High School Valedictorian of a class of 24. I only had to be smarter than 23 other people, but there was a girl who made it close.
Lived in Irving by Cowboys stadium through college
Recruited by Denver company and moved the day after graduating college.

Glad you got that time with your dad
Thanks... I'll see where he lands with that thing. I'm currently thinking heads are OK and hoping that is the situation..... Car has 58K original miles, but things go wrong all the time.

Taking Court & Jodi to the airport at around 4am tomorrow so they can go enjoy the lovely KC .... I was going but after hearing details that changed around this basketball tournament, I banked my SW airfare in the event I need to return to TX on behalf of Dad. It all sucks and just when you think it can't suck anymore ..... it does.

... guess I got stuff to do at home this weekend anyway....

Once I got out of Colorado the sun came out and the clouds broke up.

Beautiful drive to Yukon. I hadn't been through Woodward, Watonga, and Kingfisher in 20 years.

68 to a partly something 83 for this mundee eve. The place i work at just bought the 47 acres that joins its land which has a house, a good sized barn and a nice shop along with a small pond on it. I may go see if a fish lives in said pond this afternoon.

That house needs work. Rex can handle it!

Back from an all-too-brief vacation. But I did cover about 2300 miles...so there's that.

Yeah, the house does need work. They are trying to decide if they want to fix it up or tear it down.

Fix it up, sell it to you so you can be the caretaker for the hunting preserve.

So I was curious about that. I don't know the zoning rules there, but I assume your boss just wants additional land. Wonder about being able to carve out some acreage (15-20?) and then sell the house, barn, shop, etc with a descent footprint of land and then sell it as-is.. It's kind of a cool place. If you get into the house, sneak some interior pics!

Ill look at it sometime. From what i heard, the main problem is that it it had a leaky roof so it has considerable water damage. It actually would be a pretty neat place since its a ways off of the road etc.

Interesting...

If that is the addy, it shows to be a 4bd/3ba 3617 sf ranch on 5 acres .... Some states include the attached garage space under "living area", so not sure there. Wonder if the additional acreage is other parcels. If so, wonder about the outbuildings being on same as house.

Listed in Jan @ $525K and listed March 27 @ $525K

2024 Tax assessment just over $12K with the actual taxes @ $955 ... crazy.

Intriguing ... Is Silo high school basketball team any good? lulz

I don't know about their basketball team but their baseball team wins state pretty much every year i think. Im not sure how its broken up. I just assumed it was all the same lot. The property goes all the way to the west past the pond basically to the tree line.

Another cool day, mid 50s, with rain tonight and tomorrow.

I learned yesterday that there is a donut gasket under the front of my intake manifold that can leak coolant after 20 years or so. I'll also change the EGR cooler that I've had for 10+ years, since I'm finally that far inside the motor. A busy weekend awaits.

My problem is that i have a low area in my front yard that holds water so it takes a while to dry out enough to mow. It's definitely green here though. Looks like we have had over 25 inches of rain in the last 180 days.
