Board closed to visitors

Board closed to visitors

We've been persistently attacked by foreign entities who bring the board to a crawl by overloading it with thread view requests. Why they care about harming a local forum is beyond me, but it is what it is. Regrettably the board is now closed to visitors and you need to be logged in to see any content. So far this seems to be working well, but I'm sorry we can no longer browse recent content without logging in. That makes it difficult to get new visitors to register and join conversations. I'll let you know if we come up with a better solution.

Not sure how the back end is set up, but there should be a way to restrict the requests to only be allowed from the US, maybe Canada too?

I'd recommend switching to Cloudflare for DNS, if you are not already there, and then setup a rule to restrict access to the US only. That would solve 90% of it.

Yeah, i keep hoping it will come back but who knows. When everyone was leaving, they claimed that they were going to the same thing on facebook but i have looked there and it has very little activity as well. It seems there are always people lurking. I don't understand why they dont post up stuff.
